Toastmasters to talk ‘Effective Meetings’ workshop

Led by Toastmaster and hater of inefficient meetings, Jean R. McDonald presents a “How to Conduct Effective Meetings” workshop from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at The Gathering Place in Sunland, 135 Fairway Drive.

Presented by the Skwim Toastmasters Club, the event is open to the public. Admission is free though reservations are requested at ImprovedMeetings.eventbrite.com.

“I created this workshop partly based on my own high level of frustration with meetings that ended up being a waste of time,” McDonald said. “There are few things that put me more on edge. Not only is attending poorly run meetings frustrating, those conducting them have their own struggle. Meeting organizers spend lots of time and effort preparing, only to be met with low levels of enthusiasm and poor participation.”

This workshop offers tools and techniques to create more effective and efficient meetings — in business, organization and clubs.

“Whether you are a business owner, a manager or an employee, if meetings are a necessary part of your work or service life, you’ll walk away with something to immediately help boost meeting effectiveness and enjoyment,” club president Lindy MacLaine said.

Skwim Toastmasters is part of Toastmasters International, a worldwide nonprofit educational organization that empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.
