City of Sequim seeking scholarship nominees

The City of Sequim is now accepting applications for the Association of Washington Cities Center for Quality Communities Scholarship Fund.

The center will award up to six, $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors. The scholarship is available through a statewide competitive process for students who are engaged in their community and/or city government and plan to attend a post-secondary school in fall 2020.

To be eligible, a student must be graduating from high school, home school or receiving a GED in spring/summer 2020; live in the Clallam County boundaries of the Sequim School District; plan to continue their education at an accredited post-secondary institution in the 2020-2021 academic year on a half-time or more basis, and be involved with (or have been involved with) a city government or with a community/school leadership activity.

Required materials include an application, a reference letter from a non-relative and a five-paragraph essay.

Applications are reviewed by a committee of city staff members; one application will be nominated.
