Help plant trees at Siebert Creek on Leap Day

The North Olympic Salmon Coalition and North Olympic Land Trust seek volunteers are looking for some volunteers to help plant trees along Siebert Creek from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Leap Day (Feb. 29).
Volunteers at the family-friendly event will plant native trees and shrubs to improve water quality and create healthy habitat for the fish and wildlife. The Salmon Coalition will supply tools and gloves, but they are in limited supply, so attendees are encouraged to bring their own, along with warm, waterproof clothes and boots, water and a lunch. Snacks and hot drinks will be provided.
Siebert Creek watershed has been a focal point for community-based restoration and habitat protection over the last decade. Siebert Creek Conservation Area is a 38.5-acre parcel along Siebert Creek between Port Angeles and Sequim with a forested trail to an overlook of Siebert Creek. The site is located adjacent to an Olympic Discovery Trail trailhead.
The goal, the organizations say, is to plant 10,000 trees this winter.
This event is in partnership with the North Olympic Land Trust.
