Toastmasters open invite to speech, evaluation contests
The Skwim Toastmasters Club invites the public to attend their speech and evaluation contests set for 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at the Sequim Civic Center council chambers, 152 W. Cedar St.
Refreshments will be served.
Admission is free; reserve a spot at SkwimContest.eventbrite.com.
Toastmasters International is widely known for its world-wide public speaking training, though its annual speech contests are less well known, local members say.
There will be three speech contestants and three evaluation contestants, with Skwim club member Kyle Hall emceeing.
The Sequim club normally meets Tuesdays from 7–8:30 p.m. at The Gathering Place in Sunland, 135 Fairway Dr. For more information, visit 907529.toastmastersclubs.org and www.facebook.com/SequimToastmasters.
Accordion social set for Sunday
The Sequim Accordion Social is set for 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., featuring the Bonnie Birch Trio from the Seattle area.
The trio includes a guitarist and tuba player, and plays “a wide variety of music which is listenable, dance-able and demonstrates the versatility of the accordion,” event organizers say.
All accordionists are invited to bring their instruments and play a selection or two. Accordion lovers and dancers are also welcome.
A suggested donation of $3-4 is requested at the door to help with room rental. Call 360-452-0191 for more information.
