Plant sale, garden tour canceled

The Clallam County Master Gardener’s annual plant sale at Woodcock Demonstration Gardens in Sequim scheduled for May 2 has been canceled and may be rescheduled, the organization said last week.

In addition, the 27th-annual Petals & Pathways Home Garden Tour of Port Angeles scheduled for June 20 has been canceled.

“The Master Gardeners of Clallam County want to keep our community safe and will resume this annual event in 2021 on June 26 with the same beautiful home gardens that were being featured this year on the west side of Port Angeles,” the Master Gardeners said.

GOP postpones Lincoln Day event

The Clallam County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day Fundraising Luncheon, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18, has been postponed, the organization announced on its website at www.clallam republicans.org.

Glen Morgan, executive director of the Citizens Alliance for Property Rights and publisher of the news blog “We The Governed,” was slated to be this year’s featured guest speaker. The event includes a buffet luncheon at the Red Lion Hotel Ballroom along with both silent and live auctions.

OPAA scholarship deadline extended

The deadline for the Olympic Peninsula Art Association Student Scholarship has been extended to May 9, the organization unannounced last week.

OPAA representatives said the group plans to continue to offer a scholarship to a graduating senior; the state’s “Stay at Home” order encouraged the association to extend the due date for applications and portfolios.

Clallam County seniors wishing apply for the 2020 OPAA Student Scholarship may complete an online application at sequimarts.org.

Students will be directed to attach digital photos of their original artwork to the application.
