Outfitted with personal protective equipment, members of the Rotary Club of Sequim were still able to bestow an adaptive bike recently to Jorden Topham, an 8-year old who has special needs.

Topham enjoyed riding her school’s adaptive tricycle with Sequim schools physical therapist Cherry Bibler, and now she has her own.

It’s the Rotary Club of Sequim’s fifth donation of an adaptive bike, a specialized tricycle that Rotarians say is extremely stable and durable.

Riding the tricycle will help Topham work on strength, balance, coordination and functional motor skills, Rotarians said.

The Rotary club’s adaptive bike program committee members Jim Jones, Doug Schwarz and Ted Shanks work with local health professionals and the Sequim School District to identify children who would benefit by the gift — a bike custom-made for the student by the Rifton Company of New York.
