Free workshop to explore ‘Plant-Based Eating’

Retired physician Kip Tulin presents “Plant Based Eating: Good for you, Good for the world” — a free WOW! Working on Wellness radio forum set for 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at KSQM 91.5 FM.

The big picture on food and how we eat is rapidly changing. Research shows people tend to stick with what they eat as children, so change is often on a generational time scale, forum organizers say.

Meanwhile, they note, the economics of food production is changing along with the climate, and fairly good studies show that a vegan diet is the only one known to reduce plaque in arteries.

“Although we can improve at any age, the possibilities for major improvement dim as we pile on the years — like anything in else in medicine, early intervention is more effective,” forum organizers say.

WOW! Working on Wellness is a health education program of Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic — Sequim’s free clinic, which provides basic urgent care and chronic health care services to uninsured community members. Work is supported by more than 70 volunteers including physicians, other professional health care providers an laypersons, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and beyond.

The Basic Urgent Care Clinic is open to patients on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5 p.m. Individuals interested in supporting the clinic may call 360-582-0218.
