Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) is offering “Empower Yourself: Practical Tools for Living Alone,” a series of workshops, to offer support and advice to help with some of these new challenges. The series started in May and continues Wednesday, June 16, with Penney Sanders addressing household finances.
Sanders recognized the need for support and services to the aging community and created Compass Advocates, to provide a variety of services and support to the elderly and disabled. She has walked the hospice journey with clients and continued the journey personally with the death of her husband in 2020.
Her background in advocacy allows her to speak to a variety of issues related to “Empowering Yourself” specifically understanding personal finances and developing a plan for future financial stability.
The series will complete with consumer protection and fraud prevention presentation in late June, and a self-care presentation in July.
Scheduled every other Wednesday from 2-3:30 pm, the series is free to the public with some meetings online and some in-person. In-person meetings are limited to a small group and require masks to respect current meeting guidelines.
Whether interested in all or just one, participants must register for each workshop by calling VHOCC at 360-452-1511 or by emailing to office@vhocc.org.
