Milestone: Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club makes donations to local groups, agencies

The Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club, an AKC-licensed all-breed club and nonprofit, each year sees its club members work to put on three canine events in Sequim and Port Angeles.

In 2021, the club held a three-day agility-rally-obedience trial in June and a three-day all-breed showat the Carrie Blake Community Park ballfields. In October, HRKC put on a two-day scentwork trial at the Clallam County Fairgrounds in Port Angeles.

Each event brought hundreds of exhibitors to Clallam County who contributed tens of thousands to the local economy, HRKC representatives said. These events generated proceeds which the club then donates to organizations nominated by our members.

In 2021, HRKC club was able to donate $10,000 to seven organizations, including: Welfare for Animals (wagsequimwa.com), $1,200; Old Dog Haven (olddoghaven.org), $1,200; Prison Pet Partnership (prisonpetpartnership.org), $1,200; Olympic Peninsula Humane Society (ophumanesociety.org), $1,200; AKC Canine Health Foundation (akcchf.org), $1,200; Sequim Police Department’s K9 Unit (sequimwa.gov/599/Police-K-9), $2,000, and Port Angeles Police Department’s K9 Unit (cityofpa.us/878/K-9-History), $2,000.
