Representatives from the Northwest Veterans Resource Center and Michael Trebert Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution seek to honor Vietnam War veterans at a special commemorative ceremony, starting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, at the Northwest Veterans Resource Center, 216 S. Francis St., Port Angeles.
Levi Douglas, veterans’ program coordinator with the Clallam County-Northwest Veterans Resource Center, and Holly Rowan, Clallam County Veterans Association president, will lead the event of appreciation with a short ceremony inside the building. American Legion Post 29 Flag Line will be greeting guests, with the Cat’s Meow providing live patriotic prelude music.
Event organizers will also honor surviving spouses and their families.
The community is invited to help thank and honor the veterans on National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
Lapel pins are available from the Department of Defense to recognize, thank and honor all United States Vietnam veterans who served on active duty between Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location.
Those Vietnam veterans or surviving spouses who would like to receive a lapel pin and certificate can reserve a pin by contacting Candy Gammel, commemorative partner co-chair with Michael Trebert Chapter-DAR, at gammels@olypen.com or 360-460-6478.
