Rotary, SSNW team up for salmon bake, Unity of Effort events

The bake is back, and at a new location and with a new partner.

Sequim Noon Rotary’s 53rd annual Salmon Bake is set for Saturday, Aug. 6, in partnership with host Security Services NW, 250 Center Park Way, where the local business will also host its annual Unity of Effort event.

The salmon feed begins at noon and will run until they run out of salmon with an expected close at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $23 for advance purchases and $25 the day of the event, and are available at a discount in advance at sequimrotary.org, the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce, 1192 E. Washington St., at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., and at the event itself.

The meal includes alder-fired wild salmon, roll, baked beans and coleslaw along with an ice cream dessert and coffee or soft drink.

Salmon bake proceeds help Sequim students, the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, the club’s automated external defibrillator (AED) mapping project and local Rotary youth projects such as the club’s Adaptive Bike Program.

The 2022 Unity of Effort looks to celebrate first responders, law enforcement, security and military personnel. The event, scheduled for 10 a.m.-8 p.m., includes a multitude of helicopters, fire trucks, police cars and other first responder vehicles to view, as well as live music by Hair Storm and Scooter Brown band, a K-9 demonstration from Kevin Miller with the Port Angeles Police Department, food, raffles all afternoon (players need not be present to win) and additional local vendors.

Sequim Noon Rotary presented their first salmon bake on the beach at what is now John Wayne Marina. The community support was so good Rotarians had to go back to the store multiple times during that first Sunday. Over the years the salmon bake has been located at Pit Ship Point, Jamestown, Macleay Hall, Carrie Blake Community Park and the Sequim Boys & Girls Club. The 2019 event saw 500 meals served.
