Unearth treasures at annual Rock, Gem & Jewelry Show

With something for rockhounds of all ages and lapidary interests, the Clallam County Gem & Mineral Association’s Rock, Gem & Jewelry Show returns for a two-day show this September.

The club hosts its annual event from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10-11, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Admission is free.

The club sees a variety of returning vendors offering rocks, minerals, crystals and fossils from around the world, along with some new vendors featuring Ethiopian opals and a vendor offering a new “twist” on presenting driftwood.

Younger attendees are invited to enjoy Rock Alley, where they can get a free rock and play games; new games have been added to the show’s offerings.

As in previous years, the club hosts raffles that can win attendees specimen rocks, one-of-a kind jewelry pieces made by club members, lapidary equipment and supplies and other items donated by vendors; one does not need to be present to win. Back by popular demand are grab bags filled with polished stones. Those who pick a bag that contains a silver or gold rock wins that person selection of a special item from the prize table.

Stop by our cabochon making, rock polishing and rock faceting demonstrations on-going during the show. Club members will be demonstrating lapidary equipment and sharing their expertise with show attendees.
