All Sequim students eligible for free meals

Sequim School District students are all eligible for free meals through the 2022-2023 school year.

District officials made an announcement on Friday, Sept. 2, that they are partnering with the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) and Provision II Nutrition Program to offer breakfast and lunch at no cost through the U.S Department of Agriculture.

School officials ask all families with students attending Greywolf Elementary, Olympic Peninsula Academy, Sequim Middle School and Sequim High School to fill out “Free and Reduced” applications.

Paper applications can be picked up at the District Office, 503 N. Sequim Ave., and/or each school office.

Families can also log into Skyward Family Access and select their student’s name, select “Food Service” on the left, select “Application,” and “Add Application.”

Applications in Skyward must be submitted online, whereas paper applications can be submitted at your child’s school or the District Office.

Families at Helen Haller Elementary do not need to fill out a form, however, as the school already meets state/federal guidelines for free/reduced rates.

School officials say that families — even those not in financial need — who fill out the form help the district receive before- and after-school academic and enrichment programs, free waivers for college applications and admissions tests, guidance and college counselors, health and wellness services, and additional school resources.

Sequim School District children were offered free meals at Sequim schools for the last two years through COVID-19 emergency funding.

School officials note that if a child has an allergy to foods, they must provide a doctor’s note with the child’s school as a requirement of the State Office of Public Instruction (OSPI).
