Support PC sports at Crab Festival 5k run/walk

Area basketball fans can help the Peninsula College women’s basketball team get back to the Northwest Athletic Conference championship by participating in the annual Crab Fest 5K, set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Port Angeles City Pier.

The event, a fundraiser for Peninsula College women’s basketball, is open to runners and walkers of all ages. The entry fee is $35 and participants will go home with a Crabfest mug.

Registration is available at athletics.pencol.edu, or on race day starting at 9:30 a.m. The run starts at 11 a.m. on the waterfront trail at the City Pier.

“This is one of the primary fund raisers for coach Ali Crumb and her women’s basketball team,” said Rick Ross, PC’s Associate Dean for Athletics and Student Life. “This run/walk offers a great low-key way for area fans to support that program.”

The PC men’s basketball team also raises funds at the annual Crabfest celebration the weekend of Oct. 7-9 by helping with other parts of the festival.

Glasser gets score for CWU

Payton Glasser, a 2018 Sequim High School graduate, scored his first collegiate touchdown in Central Washington University’s 40-7 win over Simon Fraser on Sept. 17.

Glasser, a 6-5 redshirt sophomore, caught a 26-yard score from CWU quarterback Quincy Glasper with 1:26 remaining in the first half. Glasser finished with three receptions for 71 yards.

Glasser scored seven touchdowns and had more than 400 yards receiving as a junior at Sequim High, earning first-team All-Peninsula and first-team all-Olympic League honors. He also lettered in basketball and track, finishing as one of the top basketball scorers in school history.

He played in two games for CWU football in 2021 but did not record a statistic.
