‘Grand Slam’ set
“The Gram Slam,” an Out Loud Story Slam, is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave.
Those voted best storytellers of the year are invited to this event to tell their tales based on the theme “milestones.”

Writers’ group sets meeting
Local writers are invited to attend Olympic Peninsula Christian Writers meeting, set for 6:30-8:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, on Zoom.
This month’s guest speaker is Heidi Gaul from Oregon’s Williamette Valley. Her works are included in ten “Chicken Soup for the Soul” anthologies and several issues of The Upper Room. (For more about Gaul, visit heidigaul.com).

Monday Musicale to meet, hear pianist
The Monday Musicale group will meet at noon on Monday, Oct. 17, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church’s Fellowship Hall, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles.
The guest performer is Rita Carrow, who meeting organizers note has a vast musical background and will play classics and popular pieces on the piano.
This event is free to the public.
Monday Musicale meets at noon on the third Monday of each month. Membership dues supports music scholarships for Clallam County students. The group’s annual fundraising concert is Sunday, Nov. 6.

Book discussions continue
The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) is hosting four Book Discussion Group meetings each month. The Wednesday Evening group will meet in person in Port Angeles, while other groups meet on Zoom.

All are welcome; join every month or drop in. Paperback copies of the titles will be available for pick-up any time after the current month’s discussions at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., or the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., on a first-come, first-served basis.
Copies in other formats such as large print, book on CD, and eBook may also be available to request through the NOLS catalog at nols.org.

OTA season unveiling scheduled
Olympic Theatre Arts will reveal the 2023 line up at the organization’s annual Season Unveiling at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 414 N. Sequim Ave.
See what new shows will be produced, enjoy a tribute to Steve Sondheim and learn how to get involved with Sequim’s community theatre.
In addition, OTA members will be voting on their favorite of three selections to be included in next year’s line-up.

PC to host comedian on Oct. 13
Los Angeles, Calif. comedian Troy Walker will bring his show to the Little Theater stage at Peninsula College at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13.
The comedy show is the first of a series of three scheduled for the 2022-2023 academic year, hosted by the College’s Associated Student Government.
Admission is free to PC students and by donation, in any amount, for community members and PC staff. The show will feature adult content.
Walker made his television debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and has since appeared on VICE’s Flophouse. He played the role of Don Lemon on Fusion TV’s “Trump vs. Bernie,” appeared on Comedy Central’s “Corporate,” and Fuse’s “Uproarious.”
