‘A Photographic Journey’ highlights club’s artistry

Celebrating more than four decades of diverse photography, the Olympic Peaks Camera Club looks to take members on “A Photographic Journey” with its current exhibit.

Club members earlier this month kicked off the exhibit that’s hosted at Sequim Museum and Arts, 544 N. Sequim Ave.

“A Photographic Journey” runs through June 24; check out exhibit pieces at the museum between 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

The exhibition celebrates the diversity of photographs created by club members. Many were taken here on the Olympic Peninsula while others in the wider world during travels.

“The broad sweep of photographs reflects our varied interests, creative visions and experiences,” club members said.

Participating members include Suzanne Anaya, Lewis Bennet, Marian Bodart, Bruce Fryxell, Judy Larimore, Dana Martell, Daniel McKenna, Witta Priester, Stephen Shoff, Mary Swartz, Kevin Talbot and Susan White.

A follow-up exhibition with a totally new set of photographic prints will run from June 28-July 25 at Sequim Museum & Arts, with an opening reception set for 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 7, during the First Friday Art Walk.

About the club

The Olympic Peaks Camera Club “encourages friendship, quality photography and personal growth through interest in and enhancement of photographic skills,” members say.

The club’s mission is to connect, educate and support photographers from beginner to professional all across the North Olympic Peninsula, including Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend and surrounding areas. It provides opportunities to explore the art and craft of photography through multiple activities each month for members to learn and practice photographic skills, including “share nights” and friendly competitions.

The club hosts both online and in-person meetings/training from world class experts, and also offers a wide variety of field trips and in-person workshops. In addition, club members host the photography exhibit at the Clallam County Fair each year.
