Strike up the band(s) for the City of Sequim’s Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration.

Activities and music begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 4 in the Water Reuse Site on the north side of Carrie Blake Community Park, 500 N. Blake Ave.

Live music at the James Center for Performing Arts’ bandshell starts with the Sequim City Band at 3 p.m., followed by SuperNostalgic Band at 5 p.m., Black Diamond Junction at 8 p.m. and a fireworks show at 10 p.m.

From 3-5 p.m., the North Olympic Library System and Sequim Community Maker Space offer free family-friendly activities.

Throughout the event, food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The discharge of consumer fireworks were banned in Sequim city limits in 2018, and organizers said the event is intended to be a community celebration and alternative to the unlawful use of fireworks. Legal, consumer fireworks are allowed to be discharged from 9 a.m.-midnight on July 4 in unincorporated Clallam County east of the Elwha River unless there is a period of fire danger, according to the county’s code.
