Sequim Valley Funeral adds director/intern

Sequim Valley and Harper Ridgeview Funeral Chapels announced last week the addition of a new funeral director/embalming intern to their team.

Cathleen (Katie) McCormick is a 2023 graduate of the Funeral Service Education Program at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon. While attending school, McCormick worked as a funeral director assistant at Mt. Scott Funeral home in Portland, as well as a removal specialist for Portland Cremation Center

“[I] also took the opportunity to live in an apartment above the funeral home while I was in school,” McCormick said.

Originally from Vancouver, Washington, McCormick said she is looking forward to continuing her career on the Olympic Peninsula.

“My passion for the industry has found a home in Sequim and I look forward to further assisting the community, I feel at-home on the Olympic Peninsula and am excited to be part of such a great team,” she said.

WeDo Fudge, Cascade Caramel set annual closure

Owners of WeDo Fudge and Cascade Caramel at 11 Valley Center Place announced last week the business’ annual seasonal closure through April 29; they will re-open April 30.

Their hours will be will be noon-5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Until then, customers can find their favorite fudge flavors or cashew delights at Sunny Farms Country Store, Forage Gifts and Northwest Treasures, Agnew Grocery and Swain’s General Store.

Those who see a car at the drive-thru are encouraged to stop by for prayer, a visit or to see what creations are being made that day, as there will be pop-up hours every week as owners are making candy for local stores and events.

MV Coho resumes schedule

The MV Coho ferry has resumed its schedule for sailings between Port Angeles to/from Victoria, B.C., on Feb 8.

Through May 15, there will be two sailings daily from Port Angeles, at 8:20 a.m. and 2 p.m., increasing to four daily sailings through the summer months.
