Talk on plant circadian rhythms at Nash’s

Pam Larsen, one of the founders of the Community Organic Gardens of Sequim, will present “Plant Circadian Rhythms: Getting Our Shifts Together to Improve Human Nutrition” at Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way in Dungeness, at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28. The talk is free and open to the public.


Open house on roofing set

Hartnagel Building Supply, 3111 E. Highway 101, Port Angeles, is hosting a free Roofing Day Open House from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 28.

The public is invited to drop in to visit with roofing professionals from Diamond Roofing, Emerald Roofing, Earth Tech Construction & Roofing and Campbell Roofing, who will be on hand to answer questions about residential and commercial roofing, composite and metal roofing, torch down and flat roofs.

Job fair scheduled

Learn about employment opportunities, apply for job openings and discover potential resources at the Clallam County Hiring & Resource Event. The event is 10 a.m.-

1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Vern Burton Memorial Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. The event features employment readiness workshops, resource agency information booths and employers who are hiring.

Interested job seekers are encouraged to pre-register at the local WorkSource office at 228 W. First St., Suite A, Port Angeles, or by calling 457-2103.

This year’s event is co-sponsored by WorkSource, Clallam County Health & Human Services Developmental Disabilities, Washington State Department of Social & Health Services Community Services Office, Washington State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Washington State Developmental Disability Administration, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, Concerned Citizens and Morningside.


Fundraiser set

Port Angeles/Sequim Mobile Detail is hosting a fundraiser for the Captain Joseph House, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at Les Schwab, 2527 E. Highway 101, Port Angeles. A $10 donation — with 40 percent going to the nonprofit group — buys a car wash and vacuuming. Captain Joseph House is a nonprofit corporation created to support Gold Star Families of fallen heroes who served in all branches of the military and have died in combat since 9/11.


Horticulturalists honored

Neil Burkhardt and Jane Stewart, the former owners of McComb Nursery in Sequim, are the recipients of the 2015 Harold Young Lifetime Achievement Award from Washington State Nursery & Landscape Association. The award was presented at the Northwest Green Industry Conference in Tacoma in January.
