Commissioners recognize local employers for efforts

On Sept. 29, the Clallam County Board of Commissioners proclaimed October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Clallam County and publicly recognized employers in Clallam County who employ people with developmental disabilities.

On Sept. 29, the Clallam County Board of Commissioners proclaimed October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Clallam County and publicly recognized employers in Clallam County who employ people with developmental disabilities.

Held each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month is a national campaign that raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. The theme for 2015 is “My disability is one part of who I am.”

Employers from Sequim were Dungeness Courte Memory Care, Goodwill, Holiday Inn Express, Juan de Fuca Cottages, King’s Way Foursquare Church, McDonald’s, Pacific Bay International, Safeway and Sequim Community School.

Employers recognized from Port Angeles were Clallam County Hostelries, Clallam Transit, DSHS Children’s Services, Crestwood Nursing Home, Feiro Marine Life Center, Goodwill, Haggens, Highway 101 Safeway, JACE Real Estate, Jack in the Box, Lincoln Street Safeway, McDonald’s, Morningside, Olympic Medical Center, Pacific Office Equipment, Service Master, Smuggler’s Landing, St. Matthew’s Church, TLC Pet Pros, Walmart, Wolfley Law Office and YMCA. Employers from the West End were Three Rivers Resort.
