For practicioner, healing is God-given gift

Dorthy Steffan uses ‘frequencies’ to restore well-being

“When you come here, you will have a healing — I can’t tell you what that healing is going to be — but it will be a healing of some kind: emotional, physical, spiritual or mental.”

That’s how Dorthy Steffan describes a session at her Sequim business, Simply Pampered, an alternative healing practice.

Steffan herself is a believer in the healing power of prayer, having been through what she deems a miracle cure of her semi-paralysis through the intense prayers of others.

She came across Dr. Eric Pearl’s book, “The Reconnection: Heal Yourself, Heal Others,” in the spirituality section of a bookstore and immediately was intrigued. Pearl has pioneered studies on the healing frequencies running through him and their effects on people and animals. Steffan took a trio of Pearl’s courses: Reconnective Healing plus The Reconnection in 2010 and Reconnective Healing for Animals in 2013.

“Reconnective Healing brings us back into a balanced state of well-being through ‘frequencies’ of energy, light and information from God, the universe or a higher source,” Steffan said.

“It’s hard for people to grasp, but frequencies basically are within all of us — everything vibrates. It’s just a simple way to bring us into balance. Negative energy has such an impact on the psyche.”

The Reconnection is a different process: “It’s an accelerated exchange of energy, light and information that reconnects us to the original meridian lines of our body and through that process, reconnects us back into the universe,” Steffan said.

The Reconnection process is a two-day session for about 1.5 hours each day.

In a typical healing session, Steffen has a client fill out a questionnaire about what’s hurting but she doesn’t look at it because she says, “It’s not any of my business. I don’t do this, God does this. I’m a conduit or link between God and the client.”

Then she makes the client comfortable on a massage-type bed in a room that’s soothing to sight and sound. With one hand a few inches from but not touching the client and the other held open palm upward to receive, Steffan moves slowly around the person’s body and says she’s alerted to a source of pain when her finger vibrates “where something needs fixed.”

“Reconnective Healing can actually ‘pull’ (negative) feelings or energy out of the body,” Steffan said. “I’m very passionate about this because I’ve seen some amazing miracles. The healing occurs between you and God — I’m the conduit. It’s like tuning in a radio station — I’m basically tuning in on people’s pain.

“I just go by how I have been guided. After the sessions, I ask the clients what they experienced and share with them what I witnessed.”

Sessions typically run 30-45 minutes and when clients leave, the healing “doesn’t just drop at the door. They can access frequencies to heal themselves if they’re willing to work with it a little bit.” She usually recommends one to three sessions, “but I never say, ‘Let’s make another appointment.’ I never reschedule without asking the client asking.”

Steffan is quick to point out that even though clients may feel better after Reconnective Healing, she tells them not to go off any medicine or therapy until they discuss it with their medical provider first.

When it’s an animal in physical, mental or emotional pain, Steffan travels to it so the animal is more comfortable and so she’s not introducing allergens into her office. She noted she’s worked a few times with the Northwest Raptor and Wildlife Center and with some horses on a ranch.

“Animals are different because they don’t judge — they are very open to frequencies. Once animals experience Reconnective Healing, they can share it with other animals — I can’t say how they do that,” Steffan said.

“The Reconnection truly is a life-changing experience,” Steffan said. “From my personal experience, everybody should experience it.”
