Here comes the weekend and if you are like most of us, you choose carefully how you’ll spend those 72 hours. Here are some suggestions:

• The first berries and produce should be rolling in this week to the two street markets in Sequim. The Sea Breeze meets Friday-Sunday. The Open Aire Market on Saturday features fresh strawberry shortcake.

Friday July 1

• Among the openings at today’s First Friday Artwalk in Sequim are works by two favorites of the Gazette staff. Melanie Reed Arrington’s paintings open at The Buzz and the work of the late Tim Quinn is at the Sunshine Cafe. Add to that MAC’s tribute to flowers, the watercolors and assemblage at the Blue Whole, and the other fine openings (snacks, maybe music) and you’ve got a great start to the holiday weekend. • Later on, beguile your evening with Hawaiian music in Blyn. See Page C-6.

Saturday, July 2

• The Sequim Master Gardeners go therapeutic today with a presentation/tour on medicinal herbs. If only your plants are ailing, a plant clinic follows. See Page C-6.

• The Olympic Music Festival near Quilcene fetes Independence Day today, Sunday and Monday with the Mosaic Brass Quintet and "An American Celebration," the perfect excuse for a picnic on the grass. See Page C-6.

• Celebrate country style tonight and tomorrow night with the Country Rock Association, playing in Blyn. See Page C-6.

Monday, July 4

• The Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus and Sequim City Band join for a free holiday concert in Sequim this afternoon. See Page C-6.

• In Port Townsend, the free celebration begins this evening with the P.T. Summer Band. Just turn out and enjoy. See Page C-6.
