Elston and Jackline Hill will talk about three of their “Adventures on Ice” during a presentation Jan. 10.

The first of the three adventures took place due north of the Olympic Peninsula with a trip up the Ice Road on the Mackenzie River.

The second adventure was a dog sled trip beginning in Qaanaaq, Greenland, with six days and five nights of traveling and camping on ice.

The third adventure was a trip to see the harp seals in the Bay of Saint Lawrence.

Conditions were just right for getting close to the pups on the ice. (Human contact does not cause the mothers to reject the pups.)

The slideshow will be at 7 p.m. at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

It is the first of four slideshows in the Peninsula Trails Coalition Adventure Travel Series.

Donations will go to the coalition for the purchase of tools, equipment and lunches for volunteers who maintain and build the Olympic Discovery Trail and the Adventure Route.

A suggested donation is $5 for adults and teens. Children 12 or younger are also welcome to attend.

The slideshow series continues on Jan. 17 with a presentation by John Wegmann on a warmer part of the Earth, “A Passage to Paradise: Sailing to French Polynesia.” On Jan. 24, diver and photographer Hal Everett speaks on “The World Underwater.”

Dow Lambert finishes the series on Jan. 31 with a slideshow on “Photo-birding on the North Olympic Peninsula.”

All the slideshows are on Fridays beginning at 7 p.m. at the Port Angeles Senior Center.
