Bird seminar set, bird painting available, summer fest for art coming up and more.

Spring is for Swallows!

An illustrated seminar exploring swallow nesting, breeding, diet and migration will be from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim.

Learn to identify six different swallows species that swoop through area spring and summer skies. The seminar includes a short local field trip.

Explore the exciting medium of watercolor painting using the Dungeness River Audubon Center’s extensive collection of mounted birds. Taught by Robert Amaral, all skill levels are welcome. The class is from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday-Monday, June 28-29 and a fee applies.

Artisans sought for summer festival

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is seeking artisans for its new Summer Solstice Festival where only original, handmade arts and crafts will be for sale in their booths. Also, vendors who have services that fit the summer solstice theme to submit a booth application. The artists who participate this year will receive a first year discount for their booth fees of only $25. Exhibitors will be notified of acceptance by June 5.

Interested artists should apply online at www.pafac.org under Event Information, Summer Solstice Festival. Applications will require two photo images attached of samples of items being sold.

The $25 nonrefundable fee must be paid at the time of submission of the application. The deadline for submission is May 31.

Show for young artists planned

In preparation for the Young Artists People’s Choice Show, sponsored by Sequim Museum & Arts from May 27-30 at the Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road, artists may drop off their entries from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 22; 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 23; and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, May 25. The art show is a fundraiser that gives young artists an opportunity to show and sell their artwork. Sponsors are needed for prizes and awards.
