Strait movie

"Voices of the Straits," a video project documenting 75 years of watershed life along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, seeks participants to share memories of fishing, birding, crabbing, diving and living on the beaches and rivers of the North Olympic Peninsula.

Organizers want a wide range of people from Cape Flattery to Point Wilson. Stories from the 1920s-1950s are especially welcome. Filming will start in March. Call the Feiro Marine Life Center in Port Angeles, 417-6254.

CD release party

Cort Armstrong performs at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the Upstage Restaurant, 923 Washington St., Port Townsend.

Armstrong performs music from his newly released CD "Chicken Pickin’," available at Nash’s Farm Store in Dungeness. He combines country blues, ragtime and old-time mountain music.

He will be accompanied by Linda Dowdell on piano; George Rezendes, percussion and guitar; and his wife, Kia, on standup bass.

Book group

Sequim Library offers a book discussion at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at 630 N. Sequim Ave.

The group will discuss "Water for Elephants," by Sara Gruen.

In "Water for Elephants," the reader meets Jacob Jancowski at age 90 and spends most of the novel revisiting his adventurous past, including characters from a struggling circus in the 1930s.

P.T. chamber music

The Chamber Music Society of Port Townsend presents a concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the newly-finished Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, 2333 San Juan Ave., Port Townsend.

Featured musicians are Jeffrey Rathbun, oboe; Charles Ullery, bassoon; and soloist Walter Gray.

The concert includes compositions of Bartok, Saint-Saens, Britten and Poulenc.
