Better soil, better veggies

Laurel Moulton, WSU Master Gardener program coordinator for Clallam County, presents “Soil Fix’ns for Vegetable Gardens” at noon Thursday, April 25, as part of the Green Thumb Garden Tips free brown-bag series in the commissioners meeting room of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Moulton explains the difference between soil amendments and fertilizers, the difference between processed and unprocessed fertilizers, and how best to use them to get the most out of a garden while protecting the environment and saving money.

A Master Gardener since 2006, Moulton has a master’s degree in horticulture from Oregon State University.
