Sequim Gazette staff

Sequim High School’s production of “Footloose” recently received five nominations for awards given to Washington high schools from the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.

Nominations include Outstanding Orchestra; Outstanding Costume Design; Outstanding Lobby Display; Outstanding Performance by an Actor or Actress in a non-singing role — Ian Houghton as Principal Clark; and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble — Girls Trio (Hailey Brock, Kathryn Lorentzen and Ciara Westhoven).

The production, which ran during the Sequim Irrigation Festival, competes against schools across Washington. Evaluators saw 105 high school productions this year.

The awards ceremony is held at the 5th Avenue Theatre, 1308 Fifth Ave., in Seattle on June 11. For a full list of nominations, visit www.5thavenue.org. For more information on the operetta, contact infoshsoperetta.org or visit www.shsoperetta.org.

Twenty cast members will be in attendance at the event. Two of the students — Kathryn Lorentzen and Olivia Hatton — will sing and dance in a production number during the ceremony as school representatives.

Results will be posted on the school district website (www.sequim.k12.wa.us) and Facebook page.
