Former Sequim teacher to lead Roosevelt Elementary

Sequim resident Jennifer Van De Wege, currently assistant principal of Roosevelt Elementary in Port Angeles, was named principal of Roosevelt Elementary for the upcoming school year, school district officials announced in April.

Van De Wege, formerly a Sequim High School teacher, served at Roosevelt as assistant principal since July 2016.

“Jen has had three years’ experience at Roosevelt under the excellent mentorship of Michelle Olsen,” said Marty Brewer, Port Angeles School District’s superintendent. “She has amply demonstrated the skills and ability to lead a building, which makes her the district’s natural choice as the next leader of Roosevelt Elementary.”

Olsen was selected to take on the principalship at Dry Creek Elementary, also in Port Angeles; Dry Creek Elementary principal Brittane Hendricks announced her intent to leave the district following the 2018-2019 school year.

The changes take effect on July 1.
