With the Olympic Peninsula easing into fall, the public is invited to take a guided tour with a veteran Master Gardener at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road.
Along with the orchard, where a wide variety of apples and pears are almost ready for harvest, attendees are welcome to see bountiful kiwi and fig trees. Also in their prime are the dahlia garden and the Autumn Joy sedums, Master Gardeners say, while vegetable plants are in a transition period but still producing and new fall/winter crops will be planted.
The 2.74-acre demonstration garden has garden displays demonstrating sustainable gardening techniques that cover a range of ornamentals, edible and native plants as well as composting and garden design.
The garden is free and open to the public daily. Master Gardener volunteers tend the gardens on Thursday mornings and are available to answer questions on their respective areas.
