March 6 Art Walk springs to life with a green theme

An evening filled with green apparel and hints of spring sprouting, revitalized luck and fresh starts. March’s First Friday Art Walk Sequim on March 6 reveals green as the theme color that represents youthful spirits, generous support, new ideas, wellness, nurturing natures and young at heart pursuits.

Find works of art and folks supporting the option to decorate and dress in all shades of green for the evening out on the town.

First Friday Art Walk Sequim is a fun and free self-guided tour of local art venues in Sequim on the First Friday of every month from 5-8 p.m. Visit online at www.sequimartwalk.com as your resource to download and print your own map, find out what special events are happening, links and how you can be part of art.

Special events for March 6:

• New Venue on the Art Walk! Lavish Day Spa at 115 N. Sequim Ave. will be showing Jan Kepley’s fine art photography and greeting cards throughout March. Lavish Day Spa is a full-service spa offering a unique and tailored experience to each of their clients and showcases local creative talent within the spa.

• Colors of Sequim Fine Art Materials at 139 W. Washington St. hosts a musical performance by Victor Reventlow.

• Starting at 6 p.m., the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., features a performance by Patrick Loafman, local author and musician, and photography by James Jackson and Dave Shreffler for the celebration of the Wilderness Act’s 50th anniversary. Loafman plays gourd musical instruments including his handcrafted kora with is a West African gourd harp-lute.

• Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., presents “The Vagina Monologues,” by Eve Ensler at 7:30 p.m.

Sequim venues

• Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St. presents guest artist Barbara De Pirro with “Shadows & Reflections.” She is a painter, sculptor and installation artist, translating and cross pollinating her concepts from one media to the other. De Pirro’s artwork has been commissioned and exhibited nationally.

• The Museum & Arts Center,175 W. Cedar St., features “The Past in View: A rare view of old photographs.”

• Gallery on the Walls, 128 E. Washington St. showcases Sally Cays and Patricia Taynton.

• Rainshadow Roasting Company, 157 W. Cedar St., art quilter Pat Oden exhibit.

• Gallery at the Fifth, 500 W. Hendrickson St., Judy Priest and her painting students from the Shipley Center presenting watercolors from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 15.

Other Sequim events

• Strait Financial Advice, 193 W. Cedar St. Scott Erickson’s photographic scenes of Southwest Alaska, North Olympic Peninsula and other locations in the U.S. are on display during normal business hours. No reception.

• Blue Whole Gallery free art talk, 6:30 p.m. March 25. Two-day workshop Collage-Decollage: Acrylics ($210), 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 24-25 at Nourish, 101 Provence View Lane. • Olympic Driftwood Sculptures Annual Winter Show, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 28-29, Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road. In addition to sculptures, there will be ongoing demonstrations of their processes and handcrafted driftwood items for sale to help fund their scholarship fund.

• Bank of America, 114 S. Sequim Ave. Photographer Eric Neurath of Port Angeles is the featured artist and his works are on display during regular business hours. No reception.

Port Angeles venues

The Landing Artists Studio, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles. Wearable art with scarves, Steam punk jewelry and vintage jewelry. The featured artist is Jennifer Wright, who also does black and red pottery as well as felted scarves.

• Heatherton Gallery, 115 E. Railroad Ave., 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, March 15. Featured 2-D artist is Bob Robym and featured 3-D artist is Cindy Elstrom of Cabled Fine Arts.
