Milestone: Local Habitat earns national distinction

Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County is one of 23 organizations recognized by Habitat for Humanity International as an “Affiliate of Distinction” for fiscal years 2015 and 2016.

The Affiliates of Distinction program was established by Habitat for Humanity International to honor local Habitat organizations that meet or exceed best-practice standards and to uphold their work across the Habitat network.

“This is a first for Habitat Clallam County and we couldn’t be more excited by this recognition by Habitat for Humanity International,” said Cyndi Hueth, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County. “Thank you to our staff, board directors, advisory council members and volunteers who through a time of much-needed change, worked collaboratively and passionately in sharing our vision of A World Where Everyone Has a Decent Place to Live.”

“This is a very big thing which has happened to our local Habitat for Humanity. I am so proud of our staff, board members and volunteers, everyone who has worked with excellence in order for this recognition to come to us. This award represents much hard work and a great team effort,” said Anna Nichols, board president.

For 25 years, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County has worked in Clallam County to help local families achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. Through its traditional new home builds and newer Neighborhood Revitalization work, more than 80 Habitat homeowners have built or improved a place they can call home.
