The Port Angeles Marathon Association (PAMA), the group organizing the Run the Peninsula Series that concluded with the Dec. 4 Jamestown Glow Run, announced its recent $14,500 donation to the Peninsula Trails Coalition’ for its upkeep efforts along the Olympic Discovery Trail.
PAMA produces five events on the Olympic Discovery Trail — including the Elwha River Bridge Run, Railroad Bridge Run, North Olympic Discovery Marathon, Larry Scott Trail Run and the Jamestown Glow Run — with proceeds fgoing to the trail’s maintenance.
In 2021, the nonprofit PAMA donated over $30,000 to more than 20 different local organizations.
“The generosity and support that we have received from our participants all across the country is beyond belief,” Victoria Jones, marathon association executive director and race director, said last week. “We are fortunate to be able to continuously give back to our community and the trail that is always there for us.”
Jeff Bohman, Present of the Olympic Discovery Trail, noted that, “PTC is truly grateful for the substantial financial support of both the Port Angeles Marathon Association and the many event participants from throughout the U.S. and even beyond. We’re increasingly emphasizing the tools, equipment and capacity needed to maintain the ever-growing Olympic Discovery Trail. These funds will make a big difference in our maintenance capacities.”
Peninsula Trails Coalition is an all-volunteer group that helps to build, protect, grow and maintain the Olympic Discovery Trail. Visit olympicdiscoverytrail.org/donate.
