Missoula Children’s Theatre returning to Olympic Theatre Arts

Olympic Theatre Arts Center is welcoming back the Missoula Children’s Theatre in January.

An audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of “The Emperor’s New Clothes” from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, the theatre, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Those auditioning should arrive at 3:30 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

Students in grades 2-12, are encouraged to audition; no advance preparation is necessary. Assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. If selected, participation in the program is $20 ($10 for each additional sibling).

Among the roles to be cast are: the Emperor; ManyPenny and the Money Council; the Royal Scholars Roxy and Red; Kings, Queens; Gem and the Royal Jewelers; Boots and the Royal Cobblers; Lid and the Royal Hatters; Stitch and the Royal Tailors; and the Royal Silkworms.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. MCT tour actor/directors conduct rehearsals throughout the week, 3:30-7:45 p.m. daily.

The “The Emperor’s New Clothes” performance is set for Saturday, January 15th, 2022 at Olympic Theatre Arts Center.
