Milestone: OMC marketing, communications team earns advertising honors

Olympic Medical Center’s marketing and communications team recently received accolades from the Healthcare Advertising Awards, receiving two gold awards, two bronze awards and two merits.

A national panel of judges were engaged in reviewing all 4,400 of this year’s entries based on creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact, OMC representatives said.

Marketing and communications director Bobby Beeman, digital marketing manager Ryan Hueter, digital marketing manager, senior marketing coordinator Donna Pacheco and communications specialist Heather Nelson worked together on the entries.

“We are fortunate to have such an exceptional team of communication professionals here at OMC,” said Jennifer Burkhardt, OMC’s chief human resources officer and general counsel, and administrator overseeing the marketing and communications department.

“Their success is the culmination of hard work and innovation, and flawless teamwork.”

Added Beeman, “It’s very exciting to be recognized for our team’s work. We have an outstanding group of talented individuals who work so well together. These projects were each interesting and fun to work on, and each of us had a part in creating them.”

In the gold category, the team was recognized for its “A Day in the Life,” a series of online articles submitted in the professional recruitment program category, written primarily by Hueter.

“Ryan interviews health care professionals and allows them to share about their careers here at OMC,” Beeman said. “He does a nice job of writing these stories through the lens of what potential job seekers want to know about working at OMC.” The articles can be viewed on OMC’s blog at olympicmedical.org/category/a-day-in-the-life.

The second gold award was for the “Turn Right Here” billboard previously located on Jones and Front Street in Port Angeles, designed by Pacheco and the photo shot by Nelson.

“OMC is actively recruiting for all sorts of professionals – not just clinicians – and this board created a lot of attention for us. We enjoyed working on this billboard, playing with directional elements and making it short and sweet,” Beeman said.

An integrated marketing campaign, dubbed “Get your new knee at OMC” received a bronze award. This targeted, six-month campaign included video, digital marketing, content marketing, traditional advertising, webinars, outdoor advertising and even a first pitch at a Lefties game. Many of the elements are seen at olympicmedical.org/new-knee.

“This is one of the biggest programs our fairly new team had the pleasure of building together and it turned out pretty amazing,” Beeman said.

A vaccination promotion received bronze recognition as well: “My Vaccine Why” was a digital content series that also included advertising and billboards.

“Heather did the heavy lifting on this campaign, early on when COVID-19 vaccines first became available to our community. We had a number of health care workers who wanted to share why they felt vaccination was so vital,” Beeman said.

Two other pieces were recognized with merit status, including another billboard featuring local resident Jim Cheney and titled “Jim got his new knee at OMC.” The other was for a special video titled “Four signs you need knee replacement surgery.” Find this online at olympicmedical.org/4-signs-its-time-to-consider-knee-replacement-surgery.
