Milestone: OPHS renames kennels ‘Crow Bark House’

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society announced this week the renaming of their dog kennels to the Crow Bark House.

“It is my pleasure to announce this naming distinction in appreciation of the copious about of time and financial support received from the Crow family over the years,” OPHS executive director Luanne Hinkle said.

Linda Crow has been involved with the humane society for more than 12 years and is the immediate past board president. Additionally, she helped spearhead the capital campaign that allowed the agency to move from its building on the west side of Port Angeles to its new 9.5-acre location between Port Angeles and Sequim.

The move provided more space for the animals and future growth along with a location that is conveniently located between Sequim and Port Angeles to better serve both communities, OPHS representatives said.

“John David and I are extremely humbled by this honor,” Linda Crow said.

“It has been such a joyful experience to be a part of something that helps improve the lives of our neglected, abused, stray or surrendered animals — something that helps them along their path to new forever homes.

“It has also been a pleasure to work with everyone at OPHS who truly believes that ‘It’s All About the Animals’!”

The entire Crow family supports OPHS as well.

“Besides Linda and John David’s financial support, you will see John David stringing lights for the annual fundraiser or helping serve beverages at an OPHS concert and Linda taking a shift at community events,” Hinkle said.

“If it’s for the animals, you can count on both of them rolling up their sleeves and being there,” she said.

For several years, Linda Crow has served as co-chair of the largest OPHS fundraiser, Meowgaritas and Mutts, helping the organization garner more than $200,000 to support the animals.

“They are passionate about our mission and care deeply about the animals,” Hinkle said.
