Milestone: Sundin named Elks’ Student of Month

Sequim Elks Student of the Month for May is Laila Sundin, a sophomore at Sequim High School with a 4.0 grade-point-average.

The daughter of Eric and Caitlin Sundin, Laila was born and raised in Sequim. She volunteers at the Sequim Food Bank and is a member of the soccer club. Her favorite subjects are English and history. Her interests include social justice, environmental law and leadership.

Sundin plays on the varsity soccer team and runs on the track team. Her current courses include University of Washington chemistry, Advanced Placement world history, honors algebra II, AP seminar, Spanish and ceramics. She is vice president of the Interact club, is the Sequim Education Foundation student representative,and participates in the school’s mock trail club and leadership team.

Her favorite things to do is go for hikes, being outside, read and be with friends and family.

Sundin’s future plans include attending university, then on to graduate school for law or political science.
