Nerd quintet set to take the stage in Port Townsend

Five science-loving nerds take the stage and perform comedy on Friday, May 31, at FairWinds Winery, 1984 Hastings Ave., Port Townsend.

The show boasts comedians from across Oregon: Marietje Hauprich, Naomi Fitter, Sarah Hagen, David Kildal and Todd Basil. These nerds, show organizers note, offer comedy “free of toxic masculinity and hate speech.”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a 7 p.m. showtime. Tickets are $15 in advance on Eventbrite (eventbrite.com/e/nerd-tour-2024-port-townsend-tickets-800343457827) and $20 at the event.

Hauprich is a stand-up comic based in Portland, Oregon. She draws from her life experiences, such as the struggles of being a dedicated helicopter mom to four cats. She is a regular at Helium Comedy Club and has performed at the Limestone, Upper Left and All Jane Comedy Festivals.

Fitter escaped from Ohio at the age of 22. She has opened for Bil Dwyer, Laurie Kilmartin, and Whitney Cummings and performed in the All Jane Comedy Festival. When she’s not telling jokes, she spends her time studying robots.

Hagen is a Eugene, Oregon-based comedian who inflicts her unique brand of nerdy humor on audiences across the Pacific Northwest. Sarah’s comedic range includes story telling, musical comedy, as well as traditional stand-up. Festival appearances include the Ha Ha Harvest Festival, Northwest Women’s Comedy Festival, and the Savage Henry Comedy Festival.

Kildal is a Portland, Oregon-based stand-up comedian. Born in Southern Oregon and raised in Dayton, Ohio, he is well-versed in making light of unexciting situations. He recently performed at the Last Best Comedy Fest in Bozeman, Montana, and the Button Bridge Comedy Festival in Hood River, Oregon.

Basil is a stand-up comedian and college calculus instructor. He has performed at clubs, festivals, wineries, breweries, and corporate events along the West Coast and beyond. He recently headlined at the New South Comedy Festival in South Carolina and performed at the Treefort Music Festival in Boise, Idaho, and was just featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition as part of the touring Teacher Show.
