Off the Shelf: Find your next great read!

The Sequim Library will be joining in Sequim Irrigation Festival events on the first two weekends in May.

Come visit the NOLS booth at Family Fun Day this Saturday at Carrie Blake Community Park! Library staffers will be at the park from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and offering fun activities for kids. You can also check out floor plans and drawings of the Sequim Library Expansion and Renovation Project.

The following weekend, you’ll see the library’s new Bookmobile in the Grand Parade on May 13!

When you’re not out having fun at the Irrigation Festival, check out one of these recent titles available at the library:

“A Likely Story” by Leigh McMullan Abramson

The only child of an iconic American novelist discovers a shocking tangle of family secrets that upends everything she thought she knew about her parents, her gilded childhood, and her own stalled writing career in this brilliantly observed standout debut. — From the publisher

“The Night Shift” by Alex Finlay

Twisty, poignant, and redemptive, The Night Shift is a story about the legacy of trauma and how the broken can come out on the other side … a pair of small-town murders 15 years apart — and the ties that bind them. — From the publisher

“Symphony of Secrets” by Brendan Slocumb

A gripping page-turner from the celebrated author of book club favorite, “The Violin Conspiracy.” Music professor Bern Hendricks discovers a shocking secret about the most famous American composer of all time — his music may have been stolen from a Black Jazz Age prodigy named Josephine Reed. Determined to uncover the truth that a powerful organization wants to keep hidden, Bern will stop at nothing to right history’s wrongs and give Josephine the recognition she deserves. — From the publisher

“This Bird Has Flown” by Susanna Hoffs

A delightfully funny and steamy debut novel about music, fate, redemption, and love from beloved songwriter and Bangles co-founder Susanna Hoffs. — From the publisher

”Earth’s the Right Place for Love” by Elizabeth Berg

This beautiful new novel tells the story of two young people growing up in Mason, Mo., and how Arthur Moses, a shy young man, becomes the wise and compassionate person readers loved in The Story of Arthur Truluv. — From the publisher

“The House is on Fire” by Rachel Beanland

A masterful and “gripping” (The Washington Post) work of historical fiction about an incendiary tragedy that shocked a young nation and tore apart a community in a single night. Based on the true story of Richmond’s theater fire, “The House Is on Fire” offers proof that sometimes, in the midst of great tragedy, we are offered our most precious — and fleeting — chances at redemption. — From the publisher
