PAFAC sets series of ‘exotic terrane’ workshops this month

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center presents a series of workshops using the “exotic terrane” theme with their three features artists: Carol Gouthro, Kristin Schimik and Sheila Sondik. Schimik presents “Mandala Session” from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center. Schmik is creating mandalas as part of her show at the Pottery Northwest and the exotic terrane exhibit at the PAFAC, in ceramic tile and carved relief sculpture.

 

Schimik also presents “Clay Form Study Session” from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, also at the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center. Working from her large collection of natural forms.

 

Sondik presents “Painting on Crinkled Masa Paper” from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, at the Vern Burton Center in Port Angeles. Sondik combines Asian and Western painting techniques in this lecture/demonstration.

 

Gouthro presents “Exuberant Clay” a lecture and workshop from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, at the Vern Burton Center. In this three-hour workshop Gouthro talks about her work, giving an image presentation that shows the progression of her work during the past 30 years.

 

Gallery hours
The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center’s hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday-Sunday. Woodland Art Park is open daylight hours, year-round. Admission is free. The center is at 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles. Call 457-3532.
