Olivia Fazio and Turi Anderson received Readers Theatre Plus scholarships from Mary Griffith, board secretary, at Sequim High School’s awards ceremony on June 2.

Fazio received $400 and Anderson received $800.

Port Angeles High School students Sinead Cowan-Kuist and Elizabeth Ross-Rose received $1,200 in scholarships from board members Shawn Dawson, Carol Swarbrick Dries and Jim Dries at Port Angeles High School’s scholarship awards night in May.

Awards were based on grade-point average, community service, need, school activities and intention to study in an arts-related field.

The money was raised at a Gilbert & Sullivan show last summer in association with the Sequim Museum and Arts Center and The Peninsula Singers.

A November 2010 presentation of “Plaid Tidings” is scheduled to raise funds for 2011.

Readers Theatre Plus presents play readings in Sequim and Port Angeles.
