Jim Lichatowich, author of “Salmon, People and Place,” visits Port Angeles’ Feiro Marine Life Center from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, for the center’s regular lecture series.

Lichatowich has worked as a salmon biologist for 43 years. In his new book, Salmon, he tells what he learned about the salmon’s problem.

“Salmon, People and Place” takes readers through the myths, and assumptions and beliefs, what he calls “our salmon story,” that underlies salmon management and recovery programs.

Lichatowich ends his story with hope, giving specific steps that salmon management agencies must take to change the “salmon story.” Then he gives five steps to begin thinking about salmon and place differently, that will build sustainable relationships among salmon, people and place.

The event is on the second floor of the Landing Mall.

Cost is $5 per person, or free for Fiero Center members. Lichatowich’s book will be available for purchase. Call 417-6254.
