September book discussion groups go virtual

The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) has taken its four monthly Book Discussion Groups online.

Registration through nols.org/book-discussion-groups is required for each event in order to receive the Zoom meeting information, but all are welcome to participate, library representatives said.

Paperback copies of the upcoming book selections will be available for pick up any time after the current month’s discussion, during curbside service hours at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., or the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., on a first-come, first-served basis.

Copies in other formats such as large print, book on CD, and eBook may also be available to request through the NOLS catalog (www.nols.org).

The September Book Discussion Group kicked off on Sept. 8 with “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind” by Yuval Noah Harari.

The remaining schedule includes:

• Second Saturday Book Discussion Group: “The Home Place” by Drew Lanham, 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12; paperback copies available at Sequim Library

• Novel Conversations Book Discussion Group: “The Overstory” by Richard Powers, 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23; paperback copies available at Sequim Library

• Wednesday Evening Book Discussion Group: “The Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe” by Steven Novella, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23; paperback copies available at Port Angeles Library
