Sequim Girl Scout troop turns cookie boxes into cat scratchers

Sequim Girl Scout Troop 45181’s latest project sought to bring joy to the community’s furry residents.

Troop leader Heidi Krzyworz said the girls up-cycled Girl Scout cookie boxes on March 6 into cat scratchers for the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society’s Kitty City at 91 Boyce Road.

“These charming scratchers not only showcased the value of resourcefulness and environmental responsibility but also filled their project with an abundance of sweetness and personal touch,” Krzyworz said.

The scouts delivered the cat scratchers on March 25 to Kitty City. Their group consists of five Brownies, one junior, and one ambassador.

Girl Scout cookies were sold from Jan. 19 to March 17, with scouts also selling them from booths for most of March.
