Sequim toy show set to be biggest yet

‘Peanuts’ voice actor one of the highlights

For the third year, locals are invited to bring out or rediscover their inner child at The Olympic Peninsula Toy and Collectibles Show this weekend.

This year’s event is set to be the biggest yet, according to organizer Corey Edwards.

Thousands of toys, games, dolls and more are set to be sold from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 in the Guy Cole Event Center, 144 N. Blake Ave. in Carrie Blake Community Park. The event is free to attend.

The show will host 35 tables and 23 vendors selling a vast range of items, such as action figures, diecast robots and cars, plushies, models, and items from popular franchises such as Barbie, G.I. Joe, Star Wars, Godzilla, Transformers, and Pokemon.

For the first time, the show features a special guest with voice actress Melanie Kohn, the voice of Lucy Van Pelt in “Peanuts” cartoons, such as “Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown,” “It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown,” and “Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown.”

Kohn is even bringing photo opportunities with a psychiatrist booth that Lucy was known for in the comic strips and cartoons. She’ll also have a large collection of vintage collectibles from the series for sale.

The toy show follows a similar path to success as Gary Butler’s Sequim Record Show three years ago, also held in the Guy Cole Event Center. Edwards thought of doing the same for toys as Butler did for records in the area.

Visitors of the show the last two years have said it’s been a good spot for collectors to find their grails, missing pieces for their collections, and/or fun things in general.

Edwards said the show has received so much interest, he may consider a larger venue for 2026.
