Singer invites you to saddle up a ‘hog’

Bryan Duncan performs and signs books for tour

A unique concert coming to Sequim and across the state allows you to feel the wind in your hair with the artist before rocking out later in the evening.

The “Hog-Wash”ington Tour, a series of daylong motorcycle excursions, brings Christian musician Bryan Duncan, a Dove award winner and Grammy-nominated singer, for a motorcycle ride to Hurricane Ridge with a sack lunch, then on to a book signing at The Good Book in Sequim and a concert at Dungeness Community Church.

He’ll be touring Silverdale (Aug. 22), Sequim (Aug. 23), Wenatchee (Aug. 24), Spokane (Aug. 25), Richland (Aug. 26) and then Yakima (Aug. 27) on motorcycle and each day going on a ride with whoever wants to come — and has a motorcycle.

Bill Miano, president of the Tri-Area Trinity Riders of Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend, said at Duncan’s last concert in Sequim several concertgoers rode to the show by motorcycle, to Duncan’s excitement. They discussed motorcycles and the idea came up to do a tour like “Hog-Wash”ington.

Miano said his group is partnering with the Christian Motorcycles Association to promote each event in the touring town. Each event is free to attend, with donations benefiting local charities.

The motorcycle ride begins at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the La Vina Cafe, 111 River Road, before going to Hurricane Ridge, where riders will stop for lunches they bring on their own.

At 3 p.m. Duncan signs his books — such as “Hog Wash,” a humorous collection of his experiences as a motorcycle rider — and CDs at The Good Book, 108 W. Washington St., in Sequim. At 7 p.m. he’ll lead a concert at Dungeness Community Church, 45 Eberle Lane, Sequim.
