In a whirlwind of creativity, 24 Hour Theatre takes the stage this weekend.

Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., hosts a full day of production as actors and playwrights come together to create a one-and-done-play made over 24 hours.

Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, community members gather in the theater to discuss ideas and begin working on the full performance scheduled for 8 p.m. the following day, Saturday, April 6.

Coordinator John Manno said this is the third production for the group and a first in Sequim.

“There seems to be a theme around Washington with a lot of places doing 24-hour theater,” he said.

With so many variables — turnout, ideas, storyline, props — Manno said there’s no telling what the show will be about.

“When the first scene is written, Quinton (Chastain, director) will lead the actors and rehearse the scene,” he said.

“Nikkole Adams is in charge of writers, and when a scene is finished, it goes like that for a long, long time until the play is finished.”

Actors and writers aren’t guaranteed to sleep, but Manno said at previous events they usually take a nap in the early morning.

The response has been enthusiastic from theater-goers and participants.

“Actors love it. After every show people are clamoring for another,” Manno said.

The group has more events like this planned for the future. Participants are welcome to bring costumes and props. Children under 18 must bring written consent from parents/guardians to participate.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. April 6 show are $10 and available at the door.
