Tune into summer with Music in the Park

Sequim residents can kick off the summer season with a musical start.

The Ciy of Sequim announced a new schedule and lineup of performances for the 2017 Music in the Park concert series. This year’s series features a variety of musical talent from bluegrass, folk and rock artists such as Joy in Mudville to lively Caribbean music from Caribe Steel Band and more.

Concerts run from 6-8 p.m. each Tuesday from June 27-Aug. 29 at the James Center for the Performing Arts at Carrie Blake Community park, 350 N. Blake Ave.

The Sequim City Band will be the only performance in the series not featured from 6-8 p.m. and instead will perform a special concert at 3 p.m. on July 4.

“It’s something the whole family can do,” said Karen Kuznek-Reese, city clerk.

The series started in 2006 funded by private donations and sponsors. This year the presenting sponsor is Air Flo Heating Co., along with Jarmuth Electric Inc., Gray &Osborne Inc. and the City of Sequim.

The event is free to the public and all are welcome — including pets. Interested guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and picnic baskets.
