AARP offers senior driving classes

AARP offers monthly classes in Sequim for all adults of ages 50-plus to help them keep abreast of new rules of the road and responsible driving in Washington.

These are eight-hour classes, presented in two four-hour segments at a nominal cost of $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers.

By Washington state law, all car insurance companies must offer a reduction in rates to clients who are over 50 and present the certificate provided at the conclusion of the class; these classes must be renewed every two years to assure that discount.

An upcoming class is from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday-Friday, Jan. 17-18, both days at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave.

In February, a similar class is scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Feb. 27-28, hosted by The Lodge at Sherwood Village, 660 Evergreen Farm Way.

Make reservations for either class through the Sequim Senior Activity Center, 921 E. Hammond St., or call 683-6808.

Additional classes are offered in Port Angeles at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St. Call 457-7004 for schedule and times.
