From 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, June 7, the final Backyard Birding class of the season meets at the Dungeness River Audubon Center.

Ken Wiersema, one of the many local Olympic Peninsula Audubon birders, discusses “Birds Out of the Nest.”

Topics include adult bird roles in feeding and rearing young birds, changes in feeding needs, making your property less hazardous to young birds and lifestyles of young birds at the most vulnerable time of their lives.

Families and individuals are invited to attend any or all of these informal and fun sessions.

There is a $5 fee for those over 18 years. A complementary year’s membership in OPAS, or a one-year extension of current member dues, is offered to those who attend five classes.

Watch for announcements of the 2014-2015 series of Backyard Birding, which begins in October.
