The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced last week the appointment of Anji Scalf as the organization’s next Executive Director.
“The board recognizes that Scalf is a leader who, with several years’ experience in the public sector as well as the small business sector, is the right person to pursue its members’ interests and support community initiatives,” chamber leaders said in a press release.
Scalf succeeds Shelli Robb-Kahler, who served as executive director of the chamber since 2011 before resigning to take a position with Sound Community Bank in August.
Scalf has professional experience in community and customer support, including employee training and project management, chamber officials said. Scalf earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Hawaii and is finishing her master’s degree in business management and public administration from the University of Victoria.
“I am exceptionally honored to be given this immense responsibility, and I am inspired and invigorated by the Chamber of Commerce’s influence in our community,” Scalf said.
“The support of my mentors, colleagues, friends and family who have encouraged and educated me on my path to this position has been incredible and I am grateful for the community connections I have forged here in Sequim. I am eagerly awaiting the connections and collaborations in our future.”
Sequim chamber board president Shenna Younger said, “The board is excited to have Anji as the head of the chamber team. Having someone local who lives downtown is a bonus for us. She has a proven track record of helping our local businesses grow and thrive. Her passion and love for Sequim is notable. Anji is passionate about lean business practices, social equity, community building and engagement.”
